The letter I’d send Spielberg re: George Lucas if I thought it’d actually help.
One of the strangest things about George Lucas’ abuse of the Star Wars films is that he’s friends with a whole bunch of people who strongly support film preservation, yet they don’t seem to be staging any interventions. Lucas clearly doesn’t care what the fans think, but you’d think he’d at least listen to what the likes of Spielberg and Scorsese would say, and I can’t imagine they deep down don’t feel the same way about this as everyone else does.
(Also, any excuse to make a letter in an old typewriter style.)
